Rhapsody in Blue - Jazz Sessions by Candlelight

Award-winning British pianist Matthew Shiel leads us on a swinging, toe-tapping odyssey through blues, Berlin cabaret, ragtime and New York jazz piano improv with poignant storytelling – by candlelight. Programme includes Joplin’s The Entertainer, Brubeck’s Take Five, Gershwin’s showstopper Rhapsody in Blue and cabaret music by the Jewish composer Erwin Schulhoff (1894-1942) – who was murdered by the Third Reich for the "crime" of composing jazz. Matthew Shiel is an award-winning British pianist whose performances has been broadcast on Al Jazeera. 'Enchanting... amusing, enlightening stories' ★★★★★ (EdinburghGuide.com). 'An atmosphere which is all too often missed in our digital world' ★★★★★ (CorrBlimey.com). 'Ripping good yarn' ★★★★★ (BingeFringe.com).
