Poet No.7
Set in a Melbourne no longer recognisable, four characters speak from different points in time, their stories overlapping and interweaving with tantalising uncertainty. As we piece together their fragmented lives what’s revealed is an Australia being torn apart by violence, desire and genetically modified indigenous berries.
From playwright Ben Ellis, winner of both the Malcolm Robertson Prize and the Patrick White Playwrights' Award comes a piece of post-apocalyptic poetry posing as a play.
Performed as a solo piece by Damien Warren-Smith (the man behind fringe favourite Garry Starr)
Damien as Garry Starr:
★★★★★ "From now on, any one-man comedy show I watch will be measured against the Garry Starr bar, and believe me that bar is now incredibly high" NZ Herald
Presented by: Damien Warren-Smith
Damien trained as an actor in Sydney, a clown in Paris and a mime in Berlin.
Growing up in regional Australia he tried his hand at every sport imaginable before finally accepting that he was destined for dressing up and pretending things. He flew the coop to London where he worked as an actor with some of the UK’s biggest hitters including BBC, ITV, Tall Stories, Nottingham Playhouse and Hull Truck Theatre.
He spoke actual words on TV shows Law & Order: UK, The Persuasionists and Love My Way.
Damien now splits his time between London and Melbourne where he continues to write and perform and ride bicycles and read books and hang out wherever there are dogs.
