Palmer Sculpture Biennial
The Biennial presents works by sculptors from around Australia and overseas. The sculptors and visitors engage with a stage whose set includes the unique Australian blue sky, wonderful cloudscapes, never ending horizons and a returning landscape, which has now been under revegetation for twenty four years; a huge contrast to the white walls of a contemporary gallery.
Free maps showing the location of the exhibits will be available. Catalogues describing the works will be on sale, but as EFTPOS reception is not reliable, cash payments will be required.
Presented by: Palmer Sculpture Biennial
In 2001, Greg Johns, a south Australian professional sculptor with an international reputation bought the Palmer Landscape, a 400 acre bushland property near Palmer on the way to Mannum. His intention was for it be ecologically regenerated and become a venue for the display of contemporary sculpture. Since then, the Landscape has been home to twelve major exhibitions including ten Palmer Sculpture Biennials. The biennials have earned an international reputation for the high quality and artistic relevance of the works exhibited, and they attract the participation of leading sculptors from South Australia, interstate and overseas.
