My Budding Entropy

My Budding Entropy is a wild, brave folktale of Holly’s deep connection to nature and how it saved their life. Strap in, as this powerful, genre-defying ensemble, of non-binary artists, take you on the beautifully complex rollercoaster of Holly’s becoming, through clown, poetry, physical theatre, live original folk music and projection art. This profoundly magical tale exposes the rigid walls of the gender binary and re-imagines a colourful world beyond it.

This is our ode to connection in a divided world. Whatever your gender, it’s time to gather with us, to feel all the feelings, laugh, cry, identify, as we return to our kindred beating hearts in the arms of the natural world.

★★★★
“…eccentric, edgy but very poignant play” - Kat Skarbek - What's the show?

“…a collection of moments, transitory and transformative” - Keith Gow - Theatre First

"This show returned me back to feeling human again." - Audience member

Presented by: Holly Rowan and the Wilderbeans

We are Holly Rowan and the Wilderbeans! A dynamic performing quartet of non-binary artists from Naarm, beholding a niche pic-n-mix of creative flairs. Our collective art is categorised by cross-pollination and play, and we have gathered to tell you some epic tales of queer folks and their evolving relationship with the world, through physical theatre, original music and live-mixed animation. Our art interweaves worlds and asks deep questions, regarding nature, identity, societal norms and intergenerational perspectives. Our shows are raw but hilarious and we’re not scared of emotional rollercoasters, or difficult conversations. Holly Rowan - Original story, songs, direction and clown characters Rosie Breedt & Lore Phoenix Burns - Music and Ensemble Performance Shelley O'Meara - Projection Art, Animation and Lighting Design

...nothing is funnier than a little nip at the narcissistic dark side of the personal development world, which was a highlight for me. - Kat Skarbek, What's The Show

  • Rowan is a strong performer, particularly in those moments where they are playing characters who do not present as human. - Keith Gow, Theatre First
