Kangaroo Island Fringe - Mother's Ruin

Cabaret

Equal parts historical and hysterical explore the history of gin through story and song, as we stumble and soar through tales of love and women, gin and secrets travelling through 18th Century London, New York speakeasies and the jungles of Peru, via sailors and barmaids, bootleggers and master distillers.

Australia is in the middle of a gin craze with consumption rapidly on the rise. Critically acclaimed new cabaret, Mother’s Ruin, revels in the moments that brought us here, with humour, history and soaring harmonies. With two of Australia’s rising cabaret stars at the helm, Mother’s Ruin moves from misery to vaudeville in a moment, intertwining excess and prohibition, history and (re)invention.
