Lyra
Aurora Vocal Ensemble celebrates our Southern Skies and the land below in 'Lyra' — a shimmering program of music inspired by flight, light, and belonging. Named for the constellation that sings across the heavens, Lyra invites listeners to look upward and outward, to find beauty in the vastness above and wonder beneath our feet.
Through luminous works for upper voices, the resonance of wine glasses, the pulse of stomping feet, and a cacophony of birdsong, Aurora traces the paths of wings and winds. From intimate whispers to soaring harmonies, this concert celebrates connection — between earth and air, people and place.
With music by Alice Chance, Sarah Quartel, Ēriks Ešenvalds, and Ola Gjeilo, join us in honouring song, nature, and our glorious southern world.
We welcome you to bring what is needed for you to feel comfortable, including pillows for your seat, water, and noise-dampening headphones.

Aurora Vocal Ensemble is a dynamic upper voice group led by award-winning singer and conductor Christie Anderson. Known for their expressive artistry, precision, and joy in performance, Aurora has toured nationally and internationally, recently touring South Korea and Dubai with The Pulse—a striking collaboration with acrobatic company Gravity & Other Myths.
Aurora is currently ABC’s Champion Choir in SA and regularly features in major projects, including The Djari Project with Galpu songman Mr Gurriwiwi. Emerging from renowned choir school Young Adelaide Voices, Aurora's singers are fierce advocates for the power of vocal music to inspire and connect.
“Anderson’s choir had stolen the show. Barnaby Smith, VOCES8’s Artistic Director, came to the stage and just said “Wow”.” InReview
