HEY DJ - A History of Hip Hop
Starring acclaimed DJ YO! MAFIA alongside talented MCs, vocalists and dancers, this history of hip hop is a celebration of the genre’s best party jams throughout the years, inspired by the block party that started it all in 1973.
YO! MAFIA leads the charge with her 25 years of DJ herstory. Joined by some of Australia’s top MCs and vocalists including Eliza Wolfgramm (The Avalanches) and MC Kirk (Heaven, HQ, Big 90s Show, Planet), plus incredible breakers, poplockers and hip hop dancers.
HEY DJ is a hip-hop party jam, taking you on an educational yet body movin’ journey through the streets of the Bronx to today’s global phenomenon.
It's time to celebrate the cultural phenomenon that has shaped music and society worldwide, as a voice for the voiceless and a catalyst for change. It’s time to GET ON UP & DROP IT LOW to HEY DJ!
This is a standing event with a dancefloor in front of the stage. Limited seating is available behind the standing area. The Flamingo is near the East Terrace and Rundle Street Corner of Gluttony. Please factor in parking and weekend Fringe traffic.
