Double Take
'DOUBLE TAKE' weaves together eight short stories that, each in their own way, explore what it means to take a closer look. Performed without a single word by a pair of artists from NYC's Broken Box Mime Theater, 'DOUBLE TAKE' brings audiences on an epic journey from a bus stop to the big bang, passing by a hungry snail and returning to a sky full of stars. As told in Broken Box's unique style of contemporary mime, 'DOUBLE TAKE' celebrates the immense storytelling capacity of the body. From comedy to drama and everything in between, join us for a 60 minute adventure that encourages us to look closer, think again, and delight in the unexpected.
Presented by: Broken Box Mime Theater and Dutch Kills Theater
Broken Box Mime Theater is a collaborative theater company that performs original work entirely through movement with a mission to activate the imaginations of audiences, contemporize the art of mime, and remind us all of the power of simple storytelling. Based in NYC and founded in 2011, this version of “mime, redefined” blends techniques of French pantomime, cinema, performance art, and contemporary theater.
Dutch Kills Theater Company is committed to producing new works by emerging theater makers. In addition to working in NYC, the company has built relationships with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Adelaide Fringe Festival. The company has fully produced two dozen new pieces of theater in addition to developing several dozen pieces through the Loose Leaf development series.
