Dear Diary
A soundtrack for what we were, what we are and what we will be, journey into Kay’s teenage diaries through a collection of intimate and vulnerable stories & songs. From first kisses, girl power, spice world, and fan fiction to lost gigs, found memories and frayed friendships. This show is a hilarious, nostalgic and sometimes painful revisiting of our former selves, delving into the pressures and expectations of growing up. With wry humour and confessional stories, 'Dear Diary' asks us to look at what we hold onto and when it’s the right time to let them go, if ever.
★★★★ ½ “Part musical, part comedy...excellent storytelling, 'Dear Diary' is a witty and delightful one-woman show.” Fringe Feed
"Kay’s performance is brilliant...a message we all truly need to hear." South Coast Theatre Reviews
Presented by: Merrigong Theatre Company
Over the last decade Merrigong has widely been recognised as one of the leading producers of new work in regional Australia.
Through our deep connection with the community of the Illawarra region, and the Dharawal country on which our venues sit, Merrigong produces work strongly projecting the artist’s voices of our area, telling stories of local relevance and universal resonance.
For our mainstage program we commission, develop, and produce new Australian work presented in an annual subscription season, and available for touring to venues within Australia and internationally. Much of our work is commissioned and developed in-house here at Merrigong, but we also collaborate with other companies in the creation of exciting contemporary theatre.
