Class Clowns
Melbourne International Comedy Festival proudly presents
CLASS CLOWNS 2026
The search for Australia's next teen comedy sensation!
Melbourne International Comedy Festival's national competition and workshop program, Class Clowns, is back in 2026 to inspire, engage and elevate humorous people aged 14–18.
All it takes is 3-5 minutes of original material in any genre – whether it’s stand-up, sketch, group, musical or physical comedy! Participants take part in a free workshop to fine-tune their acts under the guidance of a professional comedian before the show.
The funniest acts will earn a trip to Melbourne to perform at the National Grand Final, and the chance to win a $1,500 cash prize plus a workshop package for their school.
To register and find out more head to classclowns.com.au.
The free workshop will be held on March 4, 1 - 3pm at The Rhino Room, Drama Llama Theatre. Registrations required via classclowns.com.au.
Presented by: Melbourne International Comedy Festival
The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is one of the three largest comedy festivals in the world, alongside Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Montreal's Just for Laughs. Held annually in Melbourne, Australia’s comedy capital, the festival features a rich mix of stand-up comedy, cabaret, theatre, street performances, and more.
Class Clowns is Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s national development program for teens.
Comprising a competition, workshop and mentoring program, Class Clowns plays a valuable role in supporting the confidence and creativity of young Australians – providing a channel for self-expression, a platform for amplifying the voices and perspectives of young people and a pathway for emerging Australian talent.
