Blushing
A CHARGE OF CELLS. A RUSH OF HEAT. SKIN AGAINST SKIN.
Raw, bold, and electric - this visceral physical theatre work from internationally-acclaimed Zen Zen Zo, dives under the surface to explore touch in its messy, beautiful forms. You're invited into the microscopic world of Cells writhing beneath your skin. Bodies pulse, lips collide, and intimacy is dissected in high-energy movement, colour, and sound.
In a world afraid of closeness, 'Blushing' examines our internal dance between shame and curiosity. 8 fierce Meanjin performers take us to a place that celebrates skin on skin. Visceral, vibrant, and unashamedly human.
"The full cast were flawless in their cacophony" Nothing Ever Happens In Brisbane
"A demonstration of the power of Zen Zen Zo’s physical theatre tradition" Creative Futures
Blushing contains partial nudity, mild sexual references, depictions and allusions to violence, and haze.
Presented by: Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre
ZEN ZEN ZO Physical Theatre has been at the forefront of contemporary performance and training for 30+ years. ZZZ has produced 3 decades of large‐scale, site‐specific and immersive, physical and visual theatre for local, national and international audiences. Current Artistic Director, Indiah Morris balances the vibrant legacy of ZZZ's unique aesthetic while ushering in a new chapter of innovative movement-led work. ZZZ's recognisable creative identity has been shaped by Asian dance-theatre traditions, the European avant-garde theatre movement, and contemporary trans-disciplinary collaboration. ZZZ believes in a theatre of contact, where the relationship between the actors and the audience is at once intimate and shocking, compelling and confrontational, ritualistic and profane.
