Amna Bee - Don't Tell My Family

Comedy • Stand-up
International • Adelaide Fringe Premiere

She’s a bad-ass rule breaker and got one hell of a story as a result – just don’t tell her family.
Stand-up comedian Amna Bee was raised by a conservative family in Pakistan and has grown
up to defy every single expectation placed upon her.

Following a sold-out run at the 2021 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, she's bringing her acclaimed show to Adelaide Fringe.

Join Amna as she chronicles her journey from living in Pakistan, Canada and around obscure
locations in Australia. She has tales to tell of marriage, divorce, dating, political activism and
culture clash. Her worldview is as unique as her life experiences.

Come along for a wild ride of crossing borders, taboos and expectations – one debacle at a time!

"A wicked sense of humour that's instantly engaging" Time Out, 2021

Presented by: Amna Bee

Amna Bee is a comedian and writer based in Melbourne, Australia. Prior to settling in Melbourne, Amna spent a year driving around the country and house sitting in obscure locations. She braved her first comedy stage in outback Australia.

Since then, she’s performed at Melbourne Comedy Festival, Darwin Fringe, Adelaide Fringe and Bellingen Winter Festival. Now in Melbourne, she runs the routinely sold-out Raise the Bar Comedy, a monthly comedy night for women and non- binary performers.

Her solo, debut show ‘Don’t Tell My Family’ had a sold-out run at the 2021 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Amna was also hand-picked to be part of the Sangam South Asian Arts Festival’s Dada-Desi program where she was mentored by acclaimed artists including Vidya Rajan and Raina Peterson.
