1968: THE BIRTH OF AMERICANA...?

Music
SA Premiere
1968: the year that rocked the world and shaped a generation, the year that changed everything.

It wasn't just a year of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. It was the year that absorbed the impact of the assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Bobby Kennedy, the growing horror and hopelessness of the Vietnam War. The rise of Black Power and the women's movement, and the generation gap.

As Time magazine argued twenty years later: "1968 was like a knife blade, the year severed the past from the future".

Whether it was theatre, youth, war, politics or the media, in 1968 the World was on fire and so was the music!

Mark Duffy and the Sundial Band will perform songs from 1968 by Neil Young, Glenn Campbell, Crosby Stills & Nash, and others.
