Tash York is the Queen of Adelaide Fringe Cabaret, and it just wouldn’t be Adelaide Fringe without her performing. To celebrate ten years in cabaret York has a new show Drop Red Gorgeous and yes, it wouldn’t be a Tash York show without….wine, wigs and song! The BankSA Theatre at Gluttony is the perfect venue for York, giving the full red-hot vibes for her everything red themed show from singing songs of iconic redheads, drinking iconic red wines and of course asking the audience to choose which of the three red coloured wigs she should wear!

In Drop Red Gorgeous, York has been punished for her past sins, and this show is full of unashamed shame! Accompanied by the glorious Peppy Smears who plays a mean piano, sings better than Britney and gives just as much as he gets, he and York are kindred cabaret spirits. The bitchy snipes were in full force, and it was nothing but red, red love!

One thing York does so well is song parodies, weaving her own intimate and signature self-deprecating lyrics into pop songs. This time it was all singers with red hair or had red hair, from Annie to Annie Lennox, Rhianna to Mick Hucknall, Ed Sheeran to Adele and many more! Telling stories of her life and how she came to realise that cabaret was her calling. Oh, and also that one time she went viral. Picture an e-scooter, a glass of wine and a very big fall from grace in the most iconic and only Tash York way! Google it…it’s hilarious.

Drop Red Gorgeous is a trip down Tash York’s memory lane with hilarious tales of shame, silliness and seriousness. Told with unapologetic truth she sings her stories, drinks her stories and makes you laugh the whole show through! While you think you know what to expect watching a Tash York show, the reality is you don’t and maybe she doesn’t either but that’s good. One thing guaranteed though is that a glass of wine will be in her hand and that wine will be sculled. Maybe even more than one glass. A Tash York show is always wacky, weird and wonderful. The rest well, just go Grab Ya Tix! to her show and strap yourself in for a wild ride!
