I’m never one to sit in a quiet room to eat. I always need the radio or television on as white noise in the background. So, when the chance to dine at the Weber Grill Academy came up AND with the added bonus of being serenaded by the beautiful voice of Michelle Pearson, I jumped at the chance to review this musical feast for the senses. Michelle has been performing this act for a number of years now, but only recently started performing it at the Weber Grill Academy. Having attended a couple of the cooking courses there myself, I knew the food was good, and the chance to enjoy a three-course feast would be even better. The show is a well-paced 90-minute set. Michelle welcomes the sold-out crowd to the event before breaking into song, which is told as the story of her foodie life, including songs like Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5, Celine Dion’s It’s All Coming Back to me Now, and One Republic’s It’s Too Late to Apologise, but adding a slight cooking twist to the lyrics. In between songs we are told stories of her life, her family, and her job, and are even given a couple of very easy-to-follow cooking demonstrations, to prepare us for the food we’re about to eat. It’s all good harmless PG fun and was helped immensely by the smooth music of Michelle’s backup band. As for the food, created by Weber chef Jacinda Gregg and her wonderful team, we were treated to grilled eggplant served with Persian feta, mint, and pepitas and a main course of barbecued sumac chicken thighs, flatbread and cucumber salad, while dessert was a delicious barbecued apple ice cream served with a nut crumble. Great food, good music, and wonderful entertainment, why would you want to eat somewhere in complete silence? FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE ****
