For the first time since 2019, Cam Knight has made his way back to the Adelaide Fringe with the SA premiere of Mid Life Catharsis. A natural wit and smart sense of humour drive this show, as Knight discusses the mid-life crisis he craves but can’t afford (if only he could have a classic 1980s film mid-life crisis), his dream to appear on survival series Alone (despite his fear of bugs and aversion to the outdoors) and his experiences raising two kids as a divorcee, concerned that games of hide and seek at the playground give off the wrong idea to passers-by. Each punchline is cleverly delivered and by the performance’s conclusion everything ties together in an unexpectedly funny way.

Mid Life Catharsis has a casual, easy tone and Knight knows exactly how to handle a rowdy audience. The crowd feels welcome to join in and Knight ties the banter back into his comedy with ease. Everyone feels connected, as if we’re having a funny conversation that keeps the whole venue on their toes from start to finish. If you want to wrap up your Fringe with a good laugh, this is for you.
