Twinky Twinky Little Star is kind of origin story meets self discovery journey.

Zak is gay. This was never in question. The man found his angles before he could walk, sung ABBA for an unwilling audience in Rundle Mall and then there was the wardrobe. But a gay is not an island, regardless of fabulousity. Zak quickly found out the queer community is complicated and finding your place in it can send a man into therapy. Or the theatre kids version of therapy a one man show.

And praise Ru Paul that Zak went with the later; because I loved hearing the story of how the confused young man serving killer looks had transformed into this hilarious, high energy, super engaging comedian with undeniable twink energy.

Zak told his story with an incredible amount of warmth, charm and endearment. He set the playful tone from the second the show started and almost immediately built a relationship with the audience that created an excellent atmosphere. Zak’s background in theatre was obvious as the showmanship was absolutely next level.

Twinky Twinky Little Star is one of my highlights. The way Zak puts on a show proves the adage, if you need something done right, send in the theatre kid. He’s absolutely hilarious, charismatic and engaging. The show was a feel good, intelligent rollercoaster of funny that I could not have loved more.

You need to see this.
