Daniel Connell is back in Adelaide for his 11th Fringe and I think he’s excited. But it can be hard to tell because of Connell’s unique (and awesome) style of comedy. The man has perfected cynicism & sarcasm as comedic devices and expressing joy isn’t in the skills section of his CV anymore. But I’ll take skepticism and dry comedy every day of the week and twice on Sundays when it’s executed to this level of hilariousness.

So more than happy to be confused about how happy Connell is or isn’t to be in Adelaide! I’m here for the lols and the lols in the way that only Connell can deliver them!

And deliver he did! The laughs came thick and fast. Connell drew inspiration from a huge range of situations in his life. The show seemed conversational but it was the kind of casual that takes a lot of intelligence, skill and hard work to achieve. He was relatable, engaging and funny AF. The packed tent was with Connell from the first punchline and he kept us in the palm of his riotously funny hands till the house lights went up.

I think Daniel Connell is great. I love the fact he fully embraced the dry, witty and a little cynical style of comedy that is uniquely him. Prairie Dog is the latest in a long line of Fringe shows that shows off the hilariousness of this great comedian and in my opinion. It’s one of his best.

You can catch Daniel Connell at the Garden until the 22nd of March.
