Playing at the Courtyard of Curiosities at the Migrant Museum, this venue suits the eclectic artist and serves as a valuable hub for the Fringe. Debuting at the Adelaide Fringe, Amuse-Bouche is latest show by Nat Harris that brings back beloved characters and intertwines them in a storyline of absurdity and mild chaos.

We saw the return of Pussy Willow, a self-indulged, awkwardly sexy and seductive woman with the voice of Katherine Hepburn and mannerisms of a un-ashamed worldly socialite. Is there anyone she hasn’t met or anything she hasn’t done as it seems Pussy Willow is at the scene of every accident, crime or injustice with the most famous and infamous of people.

In this ‘did she do it?’ unconventional crime show we follow her exploits of buying a very popular local restaurant, though having never run one before, then finding it burnt down. Enter characters Constable Craig Dry (CC Dry) and the privileged middle-class boomer and bit of a nosey neighbour, Sal to round out this crime and mystery drama.

Pussy Willow provided many a laugh with stories that can only be described as wacky and unbelievably believable. Add in a bit of audience participation and you have an unpredictable narrative with many funny moments. One man in the audience found himself part of the police interrogation all because of not returning a library book…one could think he may have been a Seinfeld fan… IYKYK.

While this show is still in its infancy there were plenty of laughs. Harris knows how to ad-lib extremely well taking the show off the beaten track to places even she sometimes didn’t know where it was going but it worked. Never breaking character even when things went wrong it was hysterical nonsense and alternative comedy at its best!
