At the Adelaide Fringe in 2026, there have been several highly successful productions that combine the golden age of burlesque with live music (blues and jazz.) Honestly as a reviewer, I was worried that I was going to be seeing a lot of the same tits and ass choreography punctuated by the overly familiar props of fans or boas and become blasé to the peeling off of…opera gloves (I am a nice girl after all!) I shouldn’t have worried because burlesque is the art of anticipation and there are many different ways to draw out the tease as there are burlesque dancers and ice cream flavours.
Fafi D’Alor heads up the Delinquent Creatives, a female lead production and entertainment company who specialises in cabaret, dance, theatre and music. Fafi D’Alour: Noir is a production that makes you believe that the real magic happens after dark and the artists have created an elegant, indulgent cabaret experience recalling the golden age of Roaring Twenties. With Jazz Age aesthetics and pure hedonism, there is a musical ensemble and a truly Prohibition theme to the sexy dancing, dazzling costumes and live songs.
For me, a the stand out stars was the luscious Roxie Bordeaux with her fierce performance of “Be Italian.” She is an experienced twenty veteran of the performance world and recently she signed her first major international touring contract . Roxie has charisma as long as her legs for days. She is magnetic, dances with conviction and brings a strong physicality to the stage where I couldn’t take my eyes off her even if I wanted to.
The other tasty strumpet who stood out for me is Erica, who I predict will be a rising star in the burlesque world at future festivals and tours. I’ve been seeing her every where at my reviews this Adelaide Fringe over the last few weeks and predict big things for this emerging and evidently hard working creative who brings a soft, luxe femininity in her performances. She is a versatile performer and one to watch.
