Ethan Cavanagh brought his solo stand-up show Bond, Lost My Bond to Adelaide Fringe to a lively crowd and a great atmosphere before the show even began. The room was close to a sell-out on the night, and there was a clear sense of anticipation as the audience settled in — always a good sign for a comedy show.
When Cavanagh hit the stage, he hit the ground running. Full of energy, looking sharp and performing with confidence, he quickly established control of the room and set the tone for a fast-paced hour of comedy.
Fresh from a world tour and a Las Vegas residency in 2025, Cavanagh delivers a polished stand-up performance that immediately connects with the audience. His delivery is sharp, his timing strong, and he maintains a confident stage presence throughout the show.
The comedy is built around the rental market, with property managers and real estate salespeople firmly in the spotlight for much of the hour. Without giving too much away, the audience clearly enjoyed Ethan’s comical take on the industry and the people who work within it, all seen through the eyes of a renter navigating the realities of the housing market.
Cavanagh also engages comfortably with the crowd, using well-timed audience interaction to build momentum throughout the set. These moments feel natural rather than forced, and he uses them effectively to shape the direction of the show while keeping the energy in the room high. Throughout the performance he appears completely in control of the show’s pacing and flow.
Those familiar with Ethan’s previous shows would not have been surprised to see the use of visual screens and PowerPoint as part of the performance. He works this element well, using it to mix up the pacing of the show and add another layer to the comedy. The visual moments complement his storytelling style and help keep the set fresh and engaging.
Interestingly, on the night there appeared to be several people in the audience who actually worked within the rental and property industry. To Ethan’s amusement, they seemed more than happy to laugh along with the jokes at their profession’s expense. This added an extra layer of humour to the evening, with Ethan skilfully feeding off the situation and the audience clearly enjoying the moment.
The crowd responded strongly throughout the show, with plenty of laughs and a relaxed, upbeat vibe in the room. With the audience already in good spirits before the show began, Cavanagh maintained the energy across the full hour of the performance.
Overall, it was a great fun hour and definitely worth seeing. Ethan delivers strong comedy throughout the show, keeping the audience entertained from start to finish. It’s a night of laughs that most people will relate to, and those working in real estate will likely enjoy the show just as much.
