SMUT is certainly not shy about what it is. The show is unapologetically explicit and leans heavily into its late-night, adults-only, show me all of your holes, energy. While the performers bring confidence and commitment to the stage, the overall production felt a little rougher around the edges than some of the more polished late-night cabaret shows we’ve loved for our date nights and adults nights out at Fringe this year. For us, it landed closer to a seedy strip-club vibe than the slick, tease-driven spectacle we usually really really enjoy. That said, if you’re open-minded and up for something very bold (and don’t mind opening your wallet for performer tips after buying a ticket), this one will absolutely find its audience.
