The Big Naked Comedy Show delivers exactly what it promises: three acts, three performers, and absolutely no costumes. Hosted by the assured and unflappable Paul Savage, the show uses full nudity not as a cheap gimmick, but as a device to disarm the audience and take away the usual façade of performance. Savage’s warmth and control set the tone from the outset, gently guiding the crowd through any initial awkwardness and quickly making laughter the main event. If nudity makes you uneasy, this hour will challenge your boundaries; if you’re comfortable with it, you’ll still find plenty of surprises.
Of the three acts, Neptune Henriksen’s set (With Legs Wide Open) is the most confronting and memorable. As a transgender man, Henriksen embarks on a sharp, hypersexual comedic journey, delivering jokes with unapologetic confidence. Drawing from his own lived experience and autism, his material is bold, self-aware, and genuinely hilarious. Here, nudity is intentionally provocative, pushing the audience to reflect on their own preconceptions and laugh despite any discomfort.
The physical highlight of the night comes from the nude contortionist and acrobat Krystal Amber, whose impressive feats of strength, balance, and flexibility transform nakedness into something sculptural and athletic. Instead of shock, the audience is left in awe of the performer’s physical prowess.
Jeromaia Detto (Giuseppe’s Love Quest) closes the show with endearing charm and warmth, playing an Italian man on a romantic quest. His playful vulnerability offers a softer, more romantic touch, balancing out the show’s wilder moments.
Every night brings a new line-up, guaranteeing unpredictable fun. No matter who graces the stage, expect relentless nudity and outrageous, unapologetic laughs. The Big Naked Comedy Show doesn’t just strip away clothes, it strips away inhibitions, daring the audience to confront their own taboos while roaring with laughter.
The Big Naked Comedy Show continues at The Piglet at Gluttony – Rymill Park until 21 March.
