With dozens of awards and accolades including finals appearances on America’s Got Talent, New Zealander Sam Willis aka Tape Face has entertained audiences for twenty years and counting. Twenty years of having tape on your face, now that’s an achievement to celebrate! I remember years ago seeing The Boy With Tape On His Face at Adelaide Fringe, so it’s good to see his return with Tape Face 20. It’s still the best mime/clown show I’ve ever seen! To be able to make an audience laugh for the whole hour without saying a word says it all.

With his Bunnings cardboard boxes scattered across the stage filled with all the trinkets, toys and gadgets he needs, the stage is set for an audience interactive experience. The beauty of audience participation is the unpredictability and Tape Face is well equipped to withstand the unknown. It’s almost like he invites it and that’s where this show shines. It’s fun, cheeky and a little bit zany.

From a Totem Tennis helmet swinging to knock off an apple from an audience member’s head, to shooting a tennis ball gun (inaccurately), a hilarious audience singalong, an unexpected and awkward strip tease, to a wedding ceremony between two strangers, you really never knew where things were heading or what the outcomes were going to be! And if they turned out wrong, well, all the more the laughs!

Tape Face is a cleverly performed mimed show with physical comedy at the forefront. For an artist that doesn’t talk at all this show says a lot! Grab Ya Tix! You won’t be disappointed.
