We're invited to dine on a three-course meal at a CBD hotel by Basil, Sybill, and Manuel. What could go right?
Firstly, a big thanks to the Adelaide Fringe for sending us a media pass to cover the 2026 season! Have you ever had a moment where you enjoyed a TV show so much that you wanted to break through a glass prism and enter its universe? Well, if you're a big fan of the comedic styles of John Cleese and Prunella Scales, then Faulty Towers The Dining Experience will allow you to experience the show in real life.
Knowing the comedic chaos that would come from being served food by the Fawlty Towers characters, the experience felt similar to the short-lived Karen's Diner. However, unlike that experience, Faulty Towers kept audience participation and interactions relatively light-hearted, and the food arrived at appropriate intervals throughout the 2-hour runtime. However, if you try to heckle, be prepared for some witty comebacks.
The three actors did a great job of staying in character throughout the performance, offering reenactments from the original series. Be prepared for a lot of puns, wordplay, and antics that are guaranteed to be unique for each night. My table was initially seated outside in the beer garden part of the Terrace Hotel, due to the competent waiting of Manuel! As for the food itself, your entry ticket comes with an entree, main, and dessert. While I won't spoil what type of food you'll get, the kitchen staff of Terrace Hotel did a great job making a very nice meal. I will say, keep an eye out for some potential surprises that may pop up in your entree.
Overall, Faulty Towers The Dining Experience serves up some scrumptious food and laughs. If you enjoyed the original series, I can guarantee you'll have a lot of fun in this tribute.
