Nun Slut made me do more hip thrusts to expel the devil, locked in eye contact with the stranger sitting next to me, than I ever expected to do at any show. If you need a reminder that Fringe can turn you, and the random congregant next to you, into warriors fighting the dark forces of the earth, here it is.
Claire Robin plays the room like many great clowns do, with warmth and mischief. She surprises the room, plays with audience participation (don't worry it's in good "spirit" heh), and keeps the energy joyous even while she’s cheekily poking at religion. There are little songs and prayer, characters, silly faces, giggles, what I imagine to be somewhat normal nun antics, and enough to make you laugh, be absolved, and laugh again. The live keyboard is a blessed choice too, pumping out hallelujah-level organ energy you simply cannot fake with a backing track. She's a nun, a nun that wants to be a slut.
Go forth and giggle. Amen.
