5 Stars for Baby Fun and Giggles – The Perfect First Show for Little Ones.

Review by Danielle Parker

This is the perfect first introduction to a live show for babies and toddlers. Bubba-Licious was joyful, interactive and so engaging for the littlest audience members. It is an award-winning show created especially for babies, born from one parent’s desire to make live theatre feel relaxed, welcoming and pressure-free. Little ones don’t have to sit still; they can wriggle, wander and fully enjoy the experience.

At just 30 minutes, it’s perfectly paced for tiny attention spans, giving toddlers space to dance, snack and play, while parents can settle in knowing the whole experience is designed with them in mind.

Our bubbly host had the room of little ones completely captivated from the very beginning. The show opened with the song, Wanju, meaning “welcome” in the Noongar language by the Whadjuk people, the traditional owners of the Perth region. It was a thoughtful and gentle way to welcome families into the space – setting the tone for a show that felt inviting.

A giant caterpillar puppet made its way around the room for all the little ones to see up close, before butterflies fluttered in and took over the tent – including a sparkling butterfly with glowing wings and beautiful lights that had little faces mesmerised. The lighting stayed soft and gentle throughout, creating magic without overwhelming young senses.

Familiar songs like I’m A Little Teapot, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Baby Shark, and more had babies and toddlers fixated, while shadow puppets, a floating shark in the air and a giant plush bear kept the wonder coming.

And then the bubble-mania began! Bubbles, big and small, filled the tent to squeals of delight, before balloons filled the room for an epic game of keepy-uppy (IYKYK). Bubbas were able to take home a souvenir balloon, a nice touch, which my daughter proudly held onto for the walk back to the car.

Held in the cosy Ukiyo tent in Gluttony, soft mats were laid out on the floor to sit down on, with bench seating also available. If you want to get a spot up the front, get there early, but you’ll have a great view from anywhere. The space is intimate and the cast members come through the audience regularly so that everyone can get involved.

If you’re searching for a stress-free family outing, a day out with a parents’ group, or an idea for a playdate, Bubba-Licious is a winner. With an effervescent mix of singing, dancing and visual delights, it keeps little ones happily engaged from beginning to end. A really great first Fringe show for babies and toddlers.
