There is no other way to describe it, being in Bernie Dieter’s audience is not just hilariously entertaining it is also a deeply moving experience.

For this to occur the person leading this journey needs to be someone exceptional, Dieter is that someone. Dieter is a force of nature, seemingly having her own internal radiance that powers a voice and presence like no other.

A large neon sign, suggesting we forget what is outside the doors once we sit, is perched to the side of the stage, balanced by the live three piece and roving cast members.

Dieter’s vocals and message are powerful in humour and in honesty. The first act serves to not only set the tone but to encourage the audience to be their authentic selves without judgement.

What follows is a finely timed, sometimes absurd, stunningly curated mix of performers. Each act brings more and more delight to the audience. At many points during the show the performers created an almost hypnotic state amongst the crowd, quiet lest they break the spell of what they are seeing.

Performers seem to do the impossible and then casually disappear into the dark, leaving the incredibly appreciative crowd filling the space with their cheers.

As we rejoin after the interval, the performers take it up a notch, in songs that pull at the heart of the human experience contrasted with phenomenal use of whipped cream and audience participation.

Please note- in this piece there is a deliberate omission of listing act descriptions – Club Kabarett is something to experience as an artistic and emotional journey.

A show you will genuinely never forget, Bernie Dieter’s Club Kabarett is one for the mind and soul.

Wave your flag high and proud!
