The Rocky Horror Singalonga Cabaret Show doesn’t politely knock on the door of nostalgia, it kicks it open in fishnets and demands you scream back the chorus. Set in the gloriously decadent Ballroom at Ayers House, this Fringe offering understands something vital: Rocky Horror isn’t a musical, it’s a communal ritual, and reverence is optional. Participation is not.

With only a keyboard, a mic stand, and remarkable endurance, Dr H (Antony Hubmayer) storms through his performance, exuding a bold assurance that keeps the audience on their toes. This cabaret is raw and purposeful, playful, unpredictable, and unapologetically eccentric.

Tracey Yarad, fresh from a long-haul flight, brings remarkable energy to her performance, delivering vocals that are gritty, warm, and unapologetic. Jetlag can’t slow down someone who knows that Rocky Horror thrives on wholehearted engagement with both the material and the audience. Her enthusiasm extends offstage as well, where she happily stays to chat and take photos, completing the experience.

If you want theatre that behaves, look elsewhere. If you want to sing, dance, shout, and possibly end up on stage, well surrender and unleash your wild side now.

The Rocky Horror Singalonga Cabaret Show continues until 14 March at The Ballroom at Ayers House Events
