I caught Zoltan doing a short spot before another show and it was a strong teaser, so I wandered down to The Duke to see the full set. He clocked me straight away, was genuinely friendly, and started it off by handing over a sheet with QR codes that kick off a few simple questions for group discussion, which gives the room a bit of structure from the start.
He’s American, but don’t hold it against him. It actually becomes part of the charm here, especially when he’s poking around Australian government quirks and local culture, and our fauna with genuine curiosity rather than doing the usual outsider bit. His interest in animals and how we do things here sparked some fun discussion in the room.
This one feels built for a specific crowd: young-ish, up for a big night out, and happy with comedy that leans cheeky, risky, and a little bit “did he really just say that?” Zoltan’s well-travelled stories are a strength, and you can feel the ex-biology teacher brain at work in the way he threads in wild facts and classroom-style tangents.
Not every beat landed for me, but the vibe is upbeat and the audience it’s aiming for will get plenty out of it. If you like your stand-up a bit spicy, a bit educational, and best paired with a few cold ones, you’ll have a hoot.
