Noah Holland first came across my radar through our mutual love of stand up comedy in the local open mic scene in Adelaide (though they are so much better at it than me!) and they shine on stage in Hold My Beer. Noah is not afraid of offering their personal life as a sacrificial lamb for the entertainment of the masses and is willing to get down & ridiculous as they can be. Noah is a perspective and intelligent comedian that makes them an interesting change from the jocks, dudes and blokes of the Adelaide comedy scene. Real thought and analysis goes into most of Holland’s astute observation and situational comedy.
Initially this was meant to be a show about Holland giving up drinking and moving to Melbourne, which didn’t quite go the way they planned the show, however Noah rolled out a mix of polished material that I have seen in development and some new stuff that was fresh and fun. Noah has never been afraid to admit that they exist in the liminal spaces of identity wise and makes some darkly humoured comments in a show that hits both the light, bright and black sides of humour. Holland is an approachable and thinking person’s comedian. A big shout out to HYMN BAR for being a creative home to stand up and improvised comedy this year so check out their roster of upcoming Fringe gigs for March!
