Adelaide, meet Alexis Sakellaris, the star of this joyful, high-energy one-man musical cabaret. A pop diva through and through, Sakellaris is a self-confessed stan of the great women of pop: Madonna, Beyoncé, Sabrina, Mariah, Britney and the almighty Céline.

On his Australian and Adelaide debut, Sakellaris invites audiences on a deeply personal and wildly entertaining journey, unpacking childhood memories of growing up in New York before his world is turned upside down at 13 with a move to rural Germany.

Yes, the vocals are impressive, the keyboard skills are smooth and those long brown locks deserve their own applause but what truly makes this show sing is the improv. Expect musical theatre energy with a generous side of spontaneity, wrapped in superb storytelling and punctuated by quirky, original tracks you’ll genuinely want to hear again.

Campy, clever and completely captivating, this singer-songwriter is an absolute delight and not one to miss at Adelaide Fringe. Playing in the Garden of Unearthly Delights until 21 March.
