La Ronde is the latest incarnation from revered circus and cabaret-curators Strut & Fret - known for their critically acclaimed productions LIMBO and Blanc de Blanc.
Set in the stunning Spiegeltent with its intimate atmosphere and a capacity audience, La Ronde begins with playful random appearances from a brightly and scantily clad cast. They circle around the venue engaging punters with beaming smiles and tantalising choreography.
David Eriksson, the eccentric ringmaster, graces the crowd with hilarious intermissions - diabolical pantomime meets audience participation. The outcome is endlessly entertaining.
The show is made up of contrasting segments showcasing the diversity of talent in the team. UK diva Gigi provides breathing space between energy-fuelled circus works with her soulful renditions of disco-bangers that have the crowd swinging in their seats.
She is Betty Davis personified and steals the show when she appears on a giant disco ball suspended mid-air as she serenades us with a sultry version of
'Turn Me On.
With a high-octane trapeze performance from Diana Bondarenko, a seductive aerial pole routine from Sergiy Mishchurenko, the incredible gravity-defying flight of LJ Marles on the tension straps and everything in between, La Ronde delivered a seven-course banquet of dance, debauchery and devilish humour I'll never forget.
