A fabulous afternoon of the music I grew up with, presented by four consummate performers: Dan Clews on vocals, harmonica and acoustic guitar, Reine Beau Anderson Dudley on vocals and percussion, Angus Munro on vocals and saxophone, and Lucy Songi on keyboard and vocals. Blending and mixing music and harmonies to reprise the music of The Doors, The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, the Mamas and the Papas and much more.

Reine Beau’s expressive voice was outstanding, offering a new twist to each song while still honouring the authenticity of the original, bring the spirit of the era to life with her own distinctive style. and a renewed appreciation for the classics that shaped modern music. I especially enjoyed Light my Fire in the arrangement made famous by Jose Feliciano, as he was the first big star I saw live in concert when I was 17!

The audience was encouraged to sing along with the band on most of the hits they played and we also received some quirky insights into the atmosphere and environment of the time. We learned that Neil Young’s round the world sailing jaunt only reached Florida where he met Joni Mitchell and returned with her to LA to record her music.

California Dreams was far more than a concert. It felt like stepping into a musical time capsule, transporting the audience to the golden glow of Laurel Canyon and celebrating songs that have endured across generations.
