If you’re looking for big laughs and even bigger balloons, The Giant Balloon Show delivers comical family fun in spectacular, air-filled style. Led by an award-winning balloon wizard, this 45 minute, high-energy, one-man show blends catchy ’80s hits, balloons and a whole bunch of hands-on audience interaction. It all builds to the piece-de-resistance, the giant balloon that had us all giggling in delight.

To get the vibes going, kids were invited onto the stage while their fellow Fringe-goers were still filing into their seats to shake their sillies out before the show started. The show starts at 10am sharp. My advice? Don’t be late, because if you are, you’ll hilariously be called out and given a big round of applause for your tardiness (all in good fun, though).

Kids will love the audience interaction and are encouraged to choose how much they want to participate. The master of balloons sought out helpers in the audience to participate in dancing, taking photos (with a camera made of balloons, what else?), cleaning up popped balloons, and let’s not forget the Mexican wave every time a balloon popped!

A few notes for the parents; this show is suitable for kids of all ages, though tiny tots might find all the action a little much. It was quite loud between the cheering, popping balloons and the music, so if your child is sensitive to noise, bring along a set of headphones. It is a seated show, but the venue isn’t too big and kids are welcome to move about. For the adults, there’s some adult humour in there, oblivious to the kids present, and certainly keeps things entertaining at this early time slot.

The Giant Balloon Show hits its peak in the grand finale, the reason we were all there, and the build up to get there just adds to it all. A fun morning out that blows up in the most hilarious way.

- Prams aren’t allowed inside, but you can park your pram just outside the venue.
