Over the years our beloved Greek Goddess Effie has brought a string of incredible shows to the Adelaide Fringe. Each show focuses on something that is causing Effie concern or worry in her world. Her new show, Frigid to Feral, is the next chapter of her life.

In Frigid to Feral, Effie shares with her audience the changes she has noticed happening to herself. Through the ups and downs, Effie bares all in her journey through menopause. There are many laugh-out-loud moments but you also see moments where certain audience members are nodding in agreement with Effie. As Effie perfectly describes it in the show, Frigid to Feral is “a comical and psychological Pap smear.”

Like all Effie shows, there is improv with her audience in the second half of her show. This is Effie’s chance to connect and spend time with her audience. It is 100% unscripted and you never know what you might get. Effie is a gifted storyteller, but she is also an extremely gifted interviewer and knows what questions to ask to pull details out of people, and then reply with a quick witted, hilarious comment.

Mary Coustas, the creative genius behind Effie, has crafted a brilliant standup show that is informative and truth-telling, wrapped up in a carefully constructed hour of standup. Based on her own journey through navigating menopause and dealing with the medical industry to help her get answers, this show is based on solid, lived research. It is factual, but the humour is used brilliantly throughout. Mary’s new book, Marypause, is also for sale at Effie’s performances.

There are only a few shows left in her Adelaide run, so don’t miss Effie’s latest triumph.
