This one’s for the eldest daughters and all you power-hungry siblings out there.

Being the over-achieving eldest daughter is the top-tier sibling cult status which Rachel Tunaley has claimed for most of her life in her family, until it’s challenged when one of her siblings reveals a surprising gender transition.

In this one-woman-esque cabaret featuring pre-recorded voiceovers, childhood flashbacks, questionable dance moves, and some hilariously contemplative songs, the stakes are high, and so is the drama! With her family dynamics turned on its head, she begins a deep introspection into the biggest issues from her childhood and mental health, told through the magic of comedy cabaret.

Grappling with losing her commanding over-achieving eldest daughter family status is almost soul-crushing, but relieving for Tunaley as she tackles her issues head-on and tries to find validation from a higher-power. As the drama and introspection intensify throughout her performance, so does the theatrical and vocal talents of Tunaley, making for a non-stop barrage of laughs.

Tunaley apprehensively encourages audience members to go on their own childhood and mental health introspections, which will leave you with more questions than answers.

I absolutely loved the sporadic use of Gen-Z and classic Australian pop-culture jokes and references which are expertly weaved throughout her performance, adding even more hilarious moments to an already jam-packed performance of uncontrollable laughs.

Tunaley’s stage presence is nothing short of brilliant; one moment she’s deep in the thick of introspection, and the next moment she’ll be breaking out into satirically-seductive song and dance.

With her infectiously witty charm and over-exaggerative choreography, Tunaley makes this feel like the most dramatic thing she’s ever had to tackle in her life (which it totally is).

To describe Tunaley and Recovering Eldest Daughter in one phrase, is to describe it as audaciously chaotic fun. It’s high energy, relatable, lovable, and filled with pink!
