When a show for kids comes along that is engaging, educational, hilarious and well constructed, parents want to shout about it from the rooftops and Splish Splash Science is one of those shows.
Playing on weekends throughout Fringe in the Roundhouse at the Garden of Unearthly Delights, Splish Splash Science is the perfect recipe of silly, sensible, science and soaking wet.
This is a new show from That Science Gang team (The Alphabet of Awesome Science and You Are a Doughnut) and it’s a science circus about water.
Blending musical numbers with magic tricks, terrific dad-joke humour and plenty of audience interaction, families can expect to get (moderately) drenched in water and knowledge.
I reckon it’s suitable for school aged children five and over, but there’s enough visual excitement for little ones. Amongst the fun facts and catchy musical numbers, there’s inflatable balls, balloons, and even a fireball.
I attended the show with a gorgeous primary school aged child living with disability who has a short attention span and doesn’t sit still for very long and he was engaged the whole time. (Parents of neurodivergent young people, IYKYK)
That Science Gang know their audience, they know their content and they know how to put together a damned good show.
Highly recommended for families, science enthusiasts and anyone who wants to cool off in the hot weather.
