Tummies and Tassels is announced as a show about Fat Joy, a movement to create Fat Spaces for Fat Artists to create their art whilst celebrating every glorious curve & marvellous jiggly bit. To be honest that was the last time anything approaching a BMI crossed my mind.

Tassels and Tummies featured amazing burlesque performer after amazing burlesque performer. There was comedy, there was classic, there was goth… the common thread… every single performer who stepped out on stage had the crowd screeching at the top of their lungs and ever single performer was H-O-T AF. Not hot for a plus size girl, or hot if they lost a little weight. H-O-T AF no asterisk required. And it was clear from the deafening screams that I wasn’t the only one in the tent who thought the gorgeousness on stage did not require a qualifier!

Tummies and Tassels was an Excellent High Energy Show that set out to celebrate Fat Joy by featuring a whole heap of EPIC plus size performers. It met this goal and then exceeded it because for mine Tummies and Tassels isn’t just a good plus size burlesque show… it’s an EPIC BURLESQUE SHOW. No qualifiers, No asterisks.

Honey B Mine should be congratulated for demonstrating how diversity can be yanked right into the mainstream and not only hold its own against “straight shows” but be a highlight in the Burlesque Calendar. It’s definitely on my must see list!

You can see Tassels and Tummies in Fools Garden Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd
