Teasing Myths is a physical theatre production presented by A Storytellers Circus and is a dark fantasy exploration of well known Greek myths. It is told in a gritty urban mood, with anime vibes and a cyberpunk aesthetic that will appeal to those who enjoy a burlesque, an almost erotic, reimagining of classical stories.

It is a sexy retelling that hits hard musically and punches above its weight class as an emerging artist production with a mix of belief defying and physical theatre trickery, matched by a bardic mastery by the storytelling elements of the mythos it references. It has elements of familiar Greek mythology such as the fantastic tales of Narcissus, the Gorgon formerly known as Medusa and the battle for the love of Persephone by Hades & Ceres.

Mythology is kinda my jam as a former archaeologist and it was deeply satisfying to be able to look at the stage and know what was going on. But anyone can enjoy this production and these artists are definitely ones to watch in future fringe seasons! I’m predicting big things in the circus and physical theatre space for A Storytellers Circus because they are fierce, thirsty and ready to take on the world.

This is my toughest season yet as an accredited reviewer because if the preview shows of the last week are any indication of how good the festival season will be this year, the Adelaide Fringe has reached a level of success it hasn’t ever matched ever before in 2026. I try to review a wide variety of artists and performing arts as a small independent arts writer, with a focus on emerging artists where I can. It is a joy to watch creatives evolve artistically!
