Feathers and Jazz was performed for the very first time at the Adelaide Fringe, and producer Selene Wilde definitely ticked all the right boxes for putting on a spectacular show!

- Live band
- Engaging MC
- Big, colourful gowns
- Fluffy feathers
- Sultry burlesque
- Did I mention the amazing, live jazz band?

It may have been opening night, but when you include seasoned burlesque performers such as Winchester Angel, Connie Curveball, and Lyra LaBelle, you know you're in good hands. This was a show that promised FEATHERS and JAZZ and delivered in both aspects admirably. Add to that an experienced and highly entertaining emcee, Nona Mona, plus the likes of De Deluxe, Salentina Dawn, and producer Selene Wilde herself, and the sixty minutes practically flew by.

The combination of jazz and burlesque is a classic trope and works harmoniously together. As the show evolves, I would love to see it performed at a swanky bar or fancy restaurant to fit the vibe; inside a tent doesn't do this show justice. Also, having the fantastic feather dancers perform during the final number would have provided a wonderful bookend to close the show. I felt the band without performers onstage seemed a little flat after Lyra LaBelle's electric closing number.

However, I can't complain about how beautiful this show looked. Sequined ball gowns and feathers were in great abundance, with the amazing Artisan Jazz Project band belting out modern-day numbers from the likes of Oasis, AC/DC, and even Eminem. When you've watched as many burlesque shows as I have, you're looking for a point of difference, and Feathers & Jazz provided just that. A musically modern show wrapped up in a gorgeous, colourful contemporary setting!
