They came in like a wrecking ball… Quick Adelaide, get out of the way because Waka, Matsu and Toma are in the house!

Right from the start Hirakuza grabs your attention. This isn’t just a sumo show. It’s an up-close, exciting encounter with a powerhouse tribe of former professional wrestlers, who invite the audience into the fascinating world of Japan’s national sport.

Expect strength, skill and plenty of personality as they walk you through the elusive rules, rituals and rhythms of sumo wrestling, with great commentary in English to match.

Your host for the night will take you through the moves, how the match works, it’s nuances, traditions and even some secret techniques. There’s plenty of wrestling right from the get-go, but what really elevates the performance are all the insights into the world of sumo.

Head along to see this troop who have travelled all the way from Osaka for their first-ever performance outside of Japan and their Australian debut!

This absolutely a must-see show at this year’s Adelaide Fringe, playing in the Garden of Unearthly Delights for the entire season.

Get along. Don’t be afraid to make some noise. And if you think you can take on a sumo, come prepared! Both authentic and entertaining, the show buzzes with energy, silliness and crowd-pleasing charm. Roll on over to Hirakuza: The Sumo Show this season and immerse yourself in the sensational spirit of sumo.
