Here’s a fun one, gang: “Fool’s Paradise” at the #adlfringe @chapelandyurt venue (that’s MY yurt!) features legendary #Adelaide performer, @brittplummerfr, clowning herself through the lifecycle of a bittersweet romance in one of the most charming shows of the Fringe. Britt relates her affecting clown-meets-clown story of love with a Swede trapped in Adelaide for the duration of lockdown with puppetry, comedy and song - of this last, notably, her disco rendition of a Liza Minelli heartbreaker that can only ever end in tears. It’s vulnerable and adorable stuff, not least because the Swedish subject of Plummer’s drama is said to be performing at this very festival, and she refuses to say a bad word about him. Definitely one for anyone who has loved, lost and plain refused to be bitter about it, don’t be deceived by Plummer’s sweet affability; this is high-end clowning, delivered with precision.
