An R-rated Looney Tunes cartoon on acid is the best way to describe The Party because, quite honestly, it’s hard to put into any other kind of words. Making its world premiere at The Garden of Unearthly Delights for the Adelaide Fringe Festival, this crazy crew of captivating cast members doesn’t just step over the line - they run right over it, reverse backward, and then run over it again!

With the main theme of the show being, of course, a party. We go from mild-mannered beginnings to a full-blown, cameras off, debaucherous finish. So, what can you expect from a show like this? EVERYTHING! Think dancing, singing, aerial displays, feats of strength, acrobatics and ridiculousness that is cranked right up to 11.

Danny leads the guys out, singing some sweet familiar tunes, while Teddy does the heavy lifting of the group, ably assisted by Dylan (the party crasher) and the twerk-machine known as DayDayyy. Keaton is the ladies’ AND men’s man of the group. With the agility of a cat, he can jump, climb, and practically scale a tall building without dropping a sweat. Singing the tunes for the ladies is Amanda. Who knew such beautiful music could be made whilst sitting on the toilet? Joining her is Angie: this long-limbed, Poison Ivy-looking, piece of perfection had the rapturous crowd aghast as she conducted an aerial display the likes of which I’d never seen before. Some would say it was the best part of the show, but I actually thought it was her hilarious facial expressions that really made her a crowd favourite. Last but not least was Kael. What made her performance in The Party so outstanding was that she wasn’t only playing her part BUT performing for another artist who unfortunately was injured before the show (get well soon Emma). Playing two characters in one, Kael you’re a superstar!

I don’t think I’ve ever gushed so much over one show in my entire reviewing life. But it’s nearly 48 hours later and I’m still coming down from The Party. Over two insane hours, you’ll be in for the ride of their life… figuratively and literally. If I could give it seven stars I would. Enjoy!
