Instagram, YouTube and Tik Tok are among 10 social networking services squabbling for supremacy and attention in a passionate, lively new production from SA’s premier youth theatre group.

Gorging ourselves on stories from every corner of the globe via our phone apps, SAYarts asks us to pause to consider the benefits or otherwise of a force-fed information diet.

In the week Donald Trump launched Truth Social as a counter to being banned from the giant story monsters of Facebook and Twitter, how do young people navigate the white noise morass to find relevance among the trivia, disinformation and 30-second sound bites?

Led by co-directors Zoe Tidemann and Timothy Mackie and guided by writer Alby T Grace, the ensemble is energised and engaged with excellent timing, but might be more conscious that any yelled dialogue is lost in a small theatre.

Story Monsters intriguingly explores the challenges our youth face finding the space outside of cyberspace to develop their own thoughts and ideas to tell their own important stories.
