Show rating: A dazzling 5 stars!

This was the ultimate Fringe after-hours event for all the showgirls and their friends ready to let loose in the party to end all parties. The luxurious Fafi D’Alor hosted a line-up of beauties who were definitely in the mood to play and push some boundaries. We celebrated as fabulous creatures of the night do, with a mix of classic burlesque, classy kink, innovative pole-dance and comedic schenanigans on the bar with a most unique cocktail preparation method by the inventor of sass herself, Fafi D’Alor. Fafi is the funny girl that is also pure sex on a stick and she is the very much the embodiment of expect the unexpected!

There is so much to describe in a burlesque line up this good and Skylar is the epitome of you should always watch the quiet ones… she in the same class of next level talent as Evana De Lune, while she is a classic beauty, there is a fierce intellect and drive in her performances that she used to whip the audience into shape. My favourite moment is definitely her tribute to Barbie that shows that she will perform on her terms and no one else’s.

My other seasonal favourite dancer, Erica, a resident artist with Delinquent Creatives, did an amazing performance of classic burlesque that mixed the glamour of Old Hollywood with Middle Eastern Princess. There was so much shimmer and I definitely felt underdressed without that glitter and glamour. I’m still convinced she is the hardest working artist at the Adelaide Fringe I’ve seen all month! When does she get her beauty sleep?

Another stand out for me was core cast member of Delinquent Creatives is artist, Annie Lane. She is an exceptionally talented technician as a dancer and a pole-dancer, using her body as an instrument of artistic creativity and she is confident, sensual and knows how to use movement to control the attention of audience. Her charisma and stage presence let her work the crowd like an orchestra and she has figured out the right blend of femininity that women want to be like her and men want to be with her. She created an iconic performance piece as Princess Peach that would certainly please both of the Mario Brothers but is certainly not rated for the kids.

Pearl A’Daire makes a slinky sultry kitty. She blends the glamour of burlesque and infused the it essence of all things feline, especially the most absurd and ridiculously comic parts of owning a cat. Or rather this pretty kitty owns us and there were plenty of people ready to volunteer to be her chosen human. She is as innocent as her hot tamale pin-up girl looks profess her to be…that is to say not at all. If there’s going to be one who is causing trouble at Club D’Alor that’s not Fafi, it is this one and she definitely aided and abetted the crimes against cocktails . As a cat lover and cat mother, I would recommend we give this pussy all the (consensual) pats and make sure she is indeed the cat that gets to cream. Otherwise she might bite!

One of the things I loved about the burlesque community is that we view it as being welcoming to everyone and it was actually really nice to see some of the performer’s families there to support them enthusiastically at the end of Fringe. Sometimes as an artist, I find our family and friends might not always understand what we do and why we love it, but they show up for us anyway and so to see Fafi’s mother (and the other people who support her work with Delinquent Creatives!) as a girlboss in an all female production company, it is extremely touching.

Unfortunately I could not stay for the entire show as the production were running significantly late at the venue and all of my artists deserve to have a reviewer who is on time and prepared for their show. I have not penalised the show in anyway for running late, this note is for any artists that I have missed in this review to know that your hard work was appreciated and probably something I would have adored if I’d seen it. Congratulations to the Delinquent Creatives on an excellent season.
