A big congratulations to all of the Fringe favourites who were nominated for and won awards at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival!

Tom Walker, who world premiered his clown-influenced stand-up show at this year’s Adelaide Fringe, won the coveted Best Newcomer award for Beep Boop. It was his debut at Melbourne International Comedy Festival after a successful Adelaide Fringe season and a two-year stint at École Philippe Gaulier, one of the world’s most prestigious acting and clowning schools (other past graduates include Fringe luminaries Tessa Waters and Trygve Wakenshaw, among others).

Comedian Zoe Coombs Marr was the recipient of the prestigious Barry Award for the most outstanding comedy act for her show, Trigger Warning. Zoe brought her hit show Dave to last year’s Adelaide Fringe. Nominees for the Barry included Luisa Omielan, Damien Power, David O’Doherty, Rhys Nicholson, Tom Ballard and Anne Edmonds, all of whom have performed at Adelaide Fringe in the past.

Zoe is in stellar company, as past Barry Award winners include Adelaide’s Sam Simmons, Denise Scott, Demetri Martin, Ross Noble and even Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt of The Mighty Boosh fame.
Congratulations to all the winners and nominees – we hope to see them at next year’s Adelaide Fringe!
