"If Fabrics Could Speak" On Tour!
Come see this award-winning film, created by artist Catherine Fitz-Gerald, who asks "If your fabric could speak, what story would it tell?" This powerful project explores our creative community’s memories, bound within the fabrics they treasure through 18 multicultural participants ages 17 to 90.
The 30-minute film, open captioned in English, includes stories in Auslan, Mandarin, and voices from First Nation and migrant communities.
Bring your own knitting, weaving, embroidery, lace, cultural or family fabric and share their stories.
Enjoy a cuppa, morning tea, and yarn (pun intended) with Catherine about your fabrics and the memories they hold, in a relaxed inclusive environment.

Catherine Fitz-Gerald is a South Australian interdisciplinary visual artist. Her 20 year practice spans oil painting, photography, digital storytelling, writing and performance. Her work explores themes of memory and sustainability, highlighting societal concerns and the significance of everyday moments.
A trained Audio Describer, Catherine is committed to inclusive access and community engagement.
Catherine’s 2024 Adelaide Fringe Award-winning exhibition asked “If Fabrics Could Speak… what stories would they tell?” combining film, photography, and painting. The film also won the SALA Digital Media Award 2024.
Catherine’s painting crosses genres and she has been awarded for landscape, realism and abstraction. She is featured in collections across Australia, USA, Asia Pacific, and Europe.
