Nine photographs of different fabrics. Top row 1870's grey dress bodice; embroidery of purple flowers on pale green cloth with old photo of a woman with long flowing hair: two hands rest on a cloth embroiderd with names; moving from black and white to colour two generations dance in the same dress.
Centre row, SALA Winner 2024 logo in purple and pink. Text If fabrics could speak, Adelaide Fringe Winner 2024 logo.
Bottom row a colourful collection of crocheted toys, a mans hands squeeze a ball of white wool against a background of a knitted blanket; and 1870s mourning gown on a wire mannequin, a detail of a pink silk Chinese knot; the torso of a man in a mended white martial arts jacket with black belt.
Artist Catherine Fitz-Gerald in an emerald green cardigan laughs, head back and gesturing. With her three people, are listening attentively. Two have their backs to us and the other person laughs too. A selection of Catherine's paintings of fabrics are on the wall in the back ground.

"If Fabrics Could Speak" On Tour!

Come see this award-winning film, created by artist Catherine Fitz-Gerald, who asks "If your fabric could speak, what story would it tell?" This powerful project explores our creative community’s memories, bound within the fabrics they treasure through 18 multicultural participants ages 17 to 90.

The 30-minute film, open captioned in English, includes stories in Auslan, Mandarin, and voices from First Nation and migrant communities.
