Chief Executive Officer

Applications close: 2026-01-06 (Midnight Adelaide time)

Adelaide Fringe is the biggest festival in Australia. It celebrates culture, place and artists from across the globe and puts Adelaide on the international map. This position is for the person who knows how to frame and imagine the event for what comes next.

The Board is now seeking to appoint the best candidate in the world to drive this internationally acclaimed festival into the future.

Adelaide Fringe is a not-for-profit organisation that celebrates diversity and encourages social cohesion through cultural exchange, bringing people together and providing a platform for artists to share their unique perspectives.

Held over four weeks during February and March each year, Adelaide Fringe is staged in multiple venues and hubs in the city, suburbs and regional areas across South Australia. It is an open access festival that welcomes anyone with an event to participate. For over 65 years Adelaide Fringe's innovative and inclusive approach has made it a thriving marketplace for artists and a hub for emerging talent, as well as a destination for established artists from around the world.

The Fringe is a significant contributor to the South Australian economy with sales of over 1 million tickets across 1,500 shows with over 10,000 artists that generate 16,000 jobs and $200m in economic activity.

As we look toward the next decade, we are entering an exciting new phase: strengthening our global reach, deepening our community connections, and ensuring the Fringe remains a world-leading beacon of artistic freedom, innovation, and inclusive participation.

We are seeking an innovative CEO with a unique combination of creative and commercial acumen to lead with vision, integrity, and imagination. Someone who understands the unique energy of the Fringe, who can champion artists, inspire partners and government, empower our team and steward the organisation with strong commercial acumen and bold strategic thinking.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to guide a major cultural institution at a pivotal moment which will shape the future of a festival that belongs to everyone.
